Lakeside Cycles is based at the Helston Boating Lake, Coronation Park in Helston, West Cornwall. We are on the doorstep of beautiful Penrose National Trust Estate. It’s also an ideal starting point for cycling routes around the Lizard Peninsula.
You can hire adult mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, gravel bikes, children’s bikes, electric bikes (e-bikes), child trailers, tag-alongs and child seats.
Yes, we have electric bikes available for hire. These are popular, so we recommend booking in advance.
You can turn up and hire a bike on the day, but booking ahead online or by phone is advised during busy times.

All cycle hires include a helmet, bike lock, spare inner tube, tyre levers, mini pump and a basic map of the recommended routes around the Penrose National Trust Estate.
Yes, we have a full range of children’s bikes, trailers and tag-alongs suitable for family cycling.
There’s no set minimum age, but all under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult and ID is required. Additionally in accordance with UK law, you must be 14 to ride an electric bike.
A valid form of photo ID, such as a driving licence or passport, is needed when collecting your bike.
Yes for our gravel bikes and e-bikes we take a refundable security deposit to cover loss or damage to the bikes or equipment

Yes, we can sell our hire fleet bikes at the end of the season. We are also able to sell new bikes, but we don’t hold stock and would need to order them. We have a small selection of parts and accessories for sale in the shop.
There’s a café next to our bike hire shop offering hot and cold food, drinks and ice creams.
We recommend you wear comfortable clothing that is not too loose or baggy. Some of the trails can be muddy in the off season so clothes may get dirty. We also recommend you wear suitable footwear such as trainers and not open toe shoes or flip flops.
